The Island in Pigeon Forge had its grand opening on Friday, according to WATE.com. Hundreds showed up to ride the new Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, shop, eat, or play.

The massive Ferris wheel can hold up to 250 people at a time in air conditioned gondolas.
At 200 feet tall, it’s the tallest observation wheel in the United States and offers amazing views of the Smoky Mountains.
