According to WBIR, Ober Gatlinburg had a major power failure late Friday night.
There were about 100 skiers at Ober when the power suddenly went out. More than 50 of them were on the resort’s two chair lifts. Members of the ski patrol worked to make sure everyone was calm and safe. They quickly dropped glow sticks down the center of the two main trails and asked skiers to walk down the slope.
Soon, staff members were able to get the backup power supply to the chair lifts to get the guests safely on the ground. The blackout lasted several hours.
All guests who were at Ober during the time of the power outage were given a ticket for another session at the ski resort.
