The planning commission in Gatlinburg has turned down a new distillery that was hoping to open on the Parkway. The new distillery would have been located less than 1,000 feet from the Ole Smoky Moonshine.
According to Local8Now.com, mayor Mike Werner said:
“That’s sort of a unique thing and sort of a novelty. but the last thing we want is these moonshine stills up and down the parkway. We’re a family friendly resort town and the image that we want to present is just that. And we’ve spent millions of dollars over so many years of branding Gatlinburg as that.”
