Well, it’s almost Turkey Day. A time to eat good food, enjoy family and friends, watch FOOTBALL, and, of course, reflect on the gifts you’ve been given.
You know what I’m most thankful for this year? (After, of course, all the “givens” — health, family, safety, etc.)
A chance to travel. A lot. Yes, 2012 was definitely a traveling year for us.
And it was important to us. We sacrificed a lot of other things to be able to travel as much as we did.
You see, our kids are in those most perfect “travel years.” They are old enough to really enjoy vacation. No naptimes to worry about, bedtimes can be flexible, their little legs can walk, walk, walk. They don’t need water on command any more often than we do. They are troopers in the extreme heat. Oh, and they will remember at least some of what we show them now.
But they are also still little enough. Little enough to be thrilled with weekend getaways and long summer trips. Little enough not to have practices, important parties. Little enough that there’s still NOTHING BETTER than heading off on an adventure with Mom and Dad. I’m not completely naive. I know it won’t last.
So we’re gonna soak it up.
Of course, we also made time for a quick trip to the Smokies! We had a great time camping in the Great Smoky Mountains!
And, of course again, I’m thankful for these little monkeys, who make traveling so worthwhile.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! We’ll be back next Monday with more Smoky Mountain news.
