The Island in Pigeon Forge is set to open this June, according to The Mountain Press. The new area will include restaurants, shops, and the 200-foot tall Great Smoky Mountain Wheel.
There will also be a multi-million dollar show fountain, a carousel, and an arcade. Restaurants will include Island Yogurt, Mellow Mushroom, Timberwood Grill, and Poynor’s Pommes Frites.
A second phase will be finished later, which will include more shops and restaurants, and a hotel.
The wheel has 42 climate-controlled, glass gondolas that seat eight people. All ages can ride. Tickets will cost $13 for adults and $9 for kids (ages 3-11).
The Island is located right in the heart of Pigeon Forge, along the Parkway. It’s in the same location as the failed Belle Island project, which had a building that resembled a river boat. Current developers bought the property one year ago.
