An author that grew up near Knoxville, TN just released a new book about the Smoky Mountains — and it’s a Christmas story! There’s nothing like the mountains at Christmas, is there?
The story, “Smoky Mountain Christmas,” was written by Karen Kirst, an author of the Love Inspired line of Harlequin romances. This line combines spiritual faith with romance.
“Smoky Mountain Christmas” takes place in Gatlinburg. It’s a novella that’s part of a bigger book “The Gift of Family,” which also includes “Merry Christmas, Cowboy” by Linda Ford. It retails on Amazon.com for around $4. Kirst also writes a series called “Smoky Mountain Matches,” which are often set in Gatlinburg.

The MetroPulse section of the Knoxville News Sentinel just ran an interview with Kirst. You can read the whole thing here, but my favorite quote is the following:
When I mention I write for Harlequin, some immediately picture the steamy romances with racy covers—you know, the scantily-clad couple locked in a heated embrace? But Harlequin offers a wide variety of books to suit readers’ tastes, so I usually go ahead and explain that I write for their Love Inspired line, what I typically refer to as the PG version. My characters have chemistry, but there’s a line they won’t cross because of their faith.
