Liquor by the drink was approved last month in Pigeon Forge after several failed attempts. Previously, restaurants were only able to sell beer and wine. According to The Knoxville News, state officials issued licenses to four Pigeon Forge businesses on Friday.
Four Pigeon Forge businesses are now able to serve liquor by the drink. They are: Tony Roma’s, Mellow Mushroom Pizza Baker, Johnny Carino’s Italian, and Blue Moose Burgers & Wings. Three more businesses have applications pending and could be approved next week.
The folks over at the Pigeon Forge Mellow Mushroom are obviously excited. Here’s a Facebook posting from Friday: “OH HAPPY DAY!! Now, grown-ups over the age of 21 have one more reason to join us for lunch or dinner! Has everyone heard the news?”
Brian Cartwright responded to the post with the following: “I just had the privilege of having the first shot of liquor ever served at a restaurant in pigeon forge. Im at the mellow mushroom.”
According to WBIR, the Mellow Mushroom started serving drinks shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday.
